Ballets Jazz Montréal cordially invites you to celebrate the reopening of the Eaton Centre's iconic 9th floor in style on

Tuesday, June 18th, 2024

Over 350 guests from the arts and business worlds will join together to show their appreciation for our company and this magnificent and historic art deco venue. Come and witness our cabaret format evening inspired by the 20's.

This year we are presenting five exclusive pieces - many of which are new creations.

To kick off the evening, Broadway legend Shannon Lewis will create a duet especially for our guests. This nod to our roots, incorporating Fosse's jazz influence and unique Ballets Jazz Montréal style, is sure to thrill audiences.

For the second piece of the evening, we also present The Great Escape - an excerpt from VANISHING MÉLODIES - Music by Patrick Watson. In this duet, the artists combine their talents to create a work in perfect synergy with Watson's music, which is human, vulnerable and tender.

We continue with excerpts from Soul by Andonis Foniadakis, premiered in 2018. Andonis created this deep, sensual duet on the song Ball and Chain, specially covered by the spellbinding Quebec artist Angel Forrest. The strength and exalted fluidity of the two dancers enhance the meaning and momentum of this anthology piece. This creation bears the choreographer's stamp, while drawing on the signature of Ballets Jazz Montréal: pure energy and uncommon physical power.

In addition to these three pieces, Artistic Director Alexandra Damiani will present a theatrical duet entitled Animus, which explores the tension between nature and nurture that exists in our relationships. Set to music by Jean Baptiste Lully and Henry Purcell, this duet will showcase the vitality and dynamism of our incredible artists.

To close this program, we are delighted to announce that the final piece will be choreographed by Guillaume Côté of The National Ballet of Canada. This duet showcases Ballets Jazz Montréal's signature style of energy and technique.
