Ballets Jazz Montréal is thrilled to announce that it will be the opening act at the inauguration of the Théâtre de Verdure in Park La Fontaine. In collaboration with la Ville de Montréal, the company will be the first to perform in this newly renovated open-air theatre on June 29th (or June 30th in case of rain). From June 29th to August 26th, the theatre will offer Montrealers, visitors and tourists a welcoming and green urban setting, as well as an abundance of cultural programming to make the summer evenings unforgettable. More than thirty shows in music, dance, cinema, and circus will be offered free of charge – first come, first serve. Along with Ballets Jazz Montreal, Orchestre Métropolitain, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Martha Wainwright, Montréal Complètement Cirque, 100lux, Cirque Kalabanté, Éloi Amesse Et Éric Bégin, End Of The Weak Québec, Flore Laurentienne, Groupe Intervention Vidéo, Jérôme 50, La Ottra Orilla, Les Chants De L’île, Roberto Lopéz, Sinha Danse, Vox Sambou, and many others will be performing throughout the summer. As part of the inauguration, the company will be performing We Can’t Forget About What’s His Name, a new creation by company member Ausia Jones, and Les Chambres des Jacques by Aszure Barton. These pieces are part of our new triple bill – ESSENCE, which will have its Quebec premiere at the Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur on August 6th and the Canadian premiere at the National Arts Center in Ottawa on August 11th & 12th. This show will be the only performance the company will have in Montréal for 2022 so we hope to see many of you there! You can reserve your tickets on the Ville de Montreal website.
